What were the major developments in the evolution of mass media during the 20th century?
The first major development in the mass media was the radio. The radio which were not expensive. This was like a television without a picture because not only did it play music, but you could listen to the news and stories on the radio. Many people used the radio to get coverage from the war. The other major developments were the television, newspapers and the telephone. The development of the telephone made things a lot easier because then they did not have to wait on a telegram to come through they were able to make calls. The newspaper was the only way people were able to know what was going on in the world if they did not have a radio, reading the newspaper is how they reach out to the community. Televisions were also another development, even though they were in black and white, people were able to watch the news, that’s for those who could afford them at the time. But once satellites were invented they were about to get worldwide coverage. Which not long after they came out with colored televisions. The other major development was the computer. The next development was the internet, this was another way people learned about the world.
