Organizational restructuring helps a business in creating and placing people in areas were they can be more useful and provide greater performances. Restructuring usually occurs to meet the needs of the business in changing times or to deal with new innovations or economic situation. An example is the hospital i work, we just finished having major restructuring, in the sense that some department were eliminated and/or combined with others departments to provide better assistant. Like the emergency and registration department now belongs in the same department as Health Records, these meant lots of people lost jobs and others were assigned more work but now they will be trained to do work of the different department. Another example when the recession hit in 2009, i know of companies that eliminated certain department and just trained people to able to deal with different things
