ECON300-Current Event #1

I recently enrolled in a subscription to Fortune magazine and had the pleasure of receiving my first issue this week. One article I found particularly interesting was Romney Means Business written by David Whitford. This article primarily focused on current GOP nominee hopeful Mitt Romney and his current views on business and the economy. First is important to note that Romney is for Business. He “sees business-people as friends, not as enemies”. He argues that under the current Obama administration businesses are being attacked by tax and regulatory policies that are restricting their operations. The most important point in this entire article is when Romney states that he believes the single gravest threat to American economic prosperity is “a government that is overbearing, intrusive, and demanding”. In summary, I believe that Romney is a candidate whose platform strongly supports American business and is anti-regulation
