Professor Ausbra Ford created an intricate mixed-media sculpture MAA KHEREW (True of Voice) as a tribute to Dr. Jacob H. Carruthers (Jedi Shemsu Jehewty). Ausbra’s work possesses a spiritual quality based on his many travels, where he has studied the funeral arts of African cultures. Ausbra’s exploration of Kemetic (Egyptian) thought, interpreted through the teachings of his mentor and friend Dr. Jacob H. Carruthers, affording him the unique ability to translate African thought into a visual medium. As a scholar, Dr. Carruthers was steeped in African deep thought. His voice will live on through his teachings, his writings, and now this monument to his life work.
