Understanding of the components of behavior within an organization is crucial to its success. “Organizational behavior may be defined as the investigation of the behavioral factors that affect modern organizations and their management at the individual, group, and organization-wide levels” (Baack, 2012, p. 2).This definition of organizational behavior is quite broad, but includes elements of the organization’s culture, modes of communication within the organization, the nature of authority within an organization, motivational techniques within the organization, emotional intelligence within the organization, and virtual elements of the organization. Each of these components can either affect the organization positively or negatively. Within Waites & Foshee, each of these elements certainly affects the organization as a whole; some contribute to its success while others hinder such accomplishments.
