Stigma Disease

Stigma Disease

Disease stigma has been existing in our society for quite some time now. In the late 20th and early 21st century, discrimination against people with HIV/ AID was the most prevalent. This disease is one of the challenges that face humankind. It has affected every level of the society, which has made the public view the victims as outsiders. The stigma surrounding the patient suffering from this condition has made it difficult to treat this condition.  The social response to fear, denial, discrimination and stigma have accompanied the disease since its identification by scientists. Family members loved ones, and even their communities have rejected victims of this disease. Most communities blame the disease for own recklessness hence they use it an excuse to dismiss the victims. As such, this paper discusses stigma in our society using HIV/AIDS as a case study.
