IT 242 Entire Course Link

Describe the open systems interconnection (OSI) model and how it relates to a network in 200 to 300 words. Include answers to the following:

• On which layers of the OSI model do WAN protocols operate?
• What are some of these protocols?
• On which OSI layers do switches and routers operate?
• If routers reside at more than one layer, what is the difference between OSI layers?

Checkpoint OSI Model
Open System Interconnection model is a networking framework to implement protocols in seven layers. Control is passed from one layer to the next, starting at the application layer in one station, and proceeding to the bottom layer, over the channel to the next station and back up the to the top of the list. Below I have included a picture of the different layers of the OSI model and what each layer covers.
