Emotional Intelligence relates to how one can relate to themselves, as well as how one can relate to others, in an emotional capacity.  This typically involves the ability to be in tune with your own emotions, the ability to manage those emotions, and the ability to continue to strive toward meeting your goals in the presence of frustration or failure (Baack, 2012).  Once these tasks are complete, the ability to empathize – or feel what others must be feeling – and thereby maintain patience with others emotions.
