QNT 351 Week 2 Team Project Plan

Overview

In this course, your team will work together to complete a few assignments. This chartering assignment is designed to help you apply your project management skills to understand the scope of your project, then break the project into goals, tasks, responsibilities, resources, and milestones. The assignment also asks you to discuss and answer some questions that will lay the foundation for developing your project.

Beyond the Standard Charter

You will notice that this chartering process goes beyond your standard University of Phoenix Charter by helping your team create a project plan for team success by providing you with opportunities to define your deliverables, recognize the connections between the deliverables and other classroom activities, determine your timelines and milestones, identify each team member’s expected contribution, and answer questions that lay the foundation for building your projects.

Putting “I” in “Team”

Important to note is the section for defining learning team expectations related to participation, collaboration, communication, team contributions, assignment deadlines, and other considerations. Please take the time to discuss and document how your team will address each area and any challenges that may arise.  It is important to understand that we are “Putting ‘I’ in ‘Team'”. In short, we will recognize and reward individuals according to their contributions to team output, not according to their team membership. This means that individual grades may be different from the team grade depending on each individual’s contribution to each team deliverable.

QNT 351 Week 3 Business Decision Making Project – Part 1

Purpose of Assignment

This is the first part of the three-part signature assignment. The purpose of this assignment is to help students aggregate all the topics learned in Weeks 1 and 2 and apply to a problem or an opportunity at their company or any company with which they are familiar.

Assignment Steps

Identify a business problem or opportunity at a company where you work or with which you are familiar. This will be a business problem that you will use for the individual assignments in Weeks 3 to 5. It should be a problem/opportunity for which gathering and analyzing some type of data would help you understand the problem/opportunity better.

Identify a research variable within the problem/opportunity that could be measured by data collection.

Consider methods for collecting a suitable sample of either qualitative or quantitative data for the variable.

Develop an analysis of 1,050 words to describe a company, problem, and variable.

Include in your submission:

Identify the name and description of the selected company.

Describe the problem at that company.

Analyze why the business problem is important.

Identify one research variable from that problem.

Describe the methods you would use for collecting a suitable sample of either qualitative or quantitative data for the variable (Note: do not actually collect any data).

Analyze how you will know if the data collection method would generate valid and reliable data (Note: do not actually collect any data).

Format your paper consistent with APA guidelines.

Click the Assignment Files tab to submit your assignment.

QNT 351 Week 4 Business Decision Making Project – Part 2

Purpose of Assignment

The purpose of this assignment is for students to build upon the problem or opportunity identified in Part 1 in Week 3. In this part, students will identify the appropriate numerical and graphical techniques of descriptive statistics learned in Weeks 2 and 3 and apply them to further studying their problem or the opportunity. Additionally, students will gain experience in using basic concepts of probability to their research.

Assignment Steps

Use the same business problem/opportunity and research variable you wrote about in Week 3.

Note: Do not actually collect any data; think hypothetically.

Develop an analysis of 1,050 words in which you:

Identify the types of descriptive statistics (numerical measures) that might be best for summarizing the data, if you were to collect a sample.

Identify the types of descriptive statistics (graphical measures) that might be best for summarizing the data, if you were to collect a sample.

Analyze the role probability (for example, expected values or finding the probability of incurring a loss, etc.) might play in helping address the business problem.
