Metal Shaping and Preparation

In this video workshop I will show you how I dome metal bases and why this is an important step. We will cover the process of drawing, marking, cutting, filing, doming, annealing and finally cleaning, and then they’re ready for enamel!

In this class I use only a handful of hand tools, and I also show you how to make the simple wooden shapers I like to use. This method is perfect for beginners, when you like to make one of a kind pieces, and when you need control over the final shape your base needs to have. For thicker metal and larger work, I also show you how to make a traditional hammered panel.

I hope that you’ll enjoy this process as much as I do!
