·         The departure of American and Soviet troops from Korea in 1949

The American and Soviet troops left Korea by June 1949. An agreement under the United Nations had both countries  military leave. Both the Soviet Union and America left advisors for each side.


·            North Korea attacks: June 24, 1950

The Democratic People’s Republic of Korea crossed the demarcation like and attacked the Republic of Korea. Their army toook over, which made the American governent see this ss a threat of communisim taking over.

·            Truman’s response to the Korean invasion: June 25-30, 1950

Truman responded ot the Korean invasion by having MacArthur take UN forces over and regain control of  areas lost in the invasion. They restored the status quo that was in place prior to the war.
