INTRODUCTIONPosition Statement: The world of communication impacts the way individuals face their cultural affiliations and how they ascertain the necessity of protecting their cultures. Relatively, gender is a great consideration when cultural practices are considered. In the modern society, women are termed the weaker sex compared to their male counterparts. This is in tandem to the vulnerability of women suffering from the gender-based violence perpetuated against them. As illustrated by Clark (n.d), women are affected by the violence perpetuated by men. They are affected by either the actual violence or the fear of the violence. In this regards, the media, while reporting the violence against women, should be responsible to minimize the intensity of harm likely to be inflicted on the subjects (Das, 2012).
