Heathkit - How to Understand and Use Your RF Signal Generator - Model EF-3

"How To Understand And Use Your Signal Generator", part of the Technical Application Series (May 1963). This 194 page digital book in Adobe Acrobat PDF format is designed to help you obtain a thorough understanding of one of the primary tools in electronics, the Signal Generator. The text of this book assumes no previous understanding of electronic theory on your part. It is written to provide you with a great deal of useful information concerning electronics, regardless of your background, whether you are still a beginner or a person experienced in electronics. If you are just starting in electronics, this book should be quite helpful not only in understanding signal generators but also in understanding basic electronic circuits.

Part I of this book offers an introduction to the different types of signal generators; it also provides general signal generator operating instructions. Part II gives complete assembly instructions for the test chassis (not included) and the special quick-connect parts (also not included) that will be used to perform experiments in Parts III and IV.

Part III of this book explains the basic theory of electronics. The text in each chapter has been prepared to make learning the basic principles easy and interesting. Experiments have been included with some of the chapters to give you practical demonstrations of the principles involved.

Part IV uses the basic principles learned in Part III to explain the theory of signal generator operation. Part V gives instructions for routine maintenance or repairs that a signal generator might need, while part VI describes the special types of signal generators and their various applications.

One of a series of Learn-by-Doing Technical Application Kits prepared especially for Individual Home Study or Group Classroom Instruction. The book is divided into six parts:

This book uses the Model IG-82 AF Signal Generator and the Model IG-102 RF Signal Generator as examples of typical signal generators. No matter what make or model signal generator you have, you will find that it will have most of the same controls as these "typical" generators, but they may be at different locations.

With the knowledge and experience that you gain from this Technical Application book, it should be possible for you to pursue a hobby in electronics, or to troubleshoot and adjust radios and other electronic devices with your signal generator.

In order to view these files you will need to have Adobe Acrobat Reader installed on your computer.
