ECON300-Current Event #8

This Tuesday, February 14, 2012, President Obama will meet with China’s Vice President Xi Jinping. The reason for this meeting is to discuss our ongoing trade relationship with the country and its effect on both economies. In the past, the US’s relationship with China has been strained during our Great Recession. We have a significant part of our national debt with China, meanwhile, demand for Chinese goods are continuing to grow. While many Americans argue that we need to stop outsourcing/off-shoring to countries such as China, the trends continue to show an increase in our consumption of their goods. Currently our demand for importing of Chinese good exceeds their demand and exporting of ours
