Simple procedures are typically outpatient that only takes a short time to perform. Once they are done, a patient can comfortably leave the hospital. For procedures that are more in depth and have risks and side effects, the patientisrequired to be hospitalized so that they can recoverunder the assistance of health care professionals. Regardless of the type of operation that a patient will undergo, informed consent needs to be obtained. This is the permission that a medical professional needs to get from the patient before they can carry out any procedure on that patient.
