Enterprise resource planning systems (SOLVED)

Enterprise resource planning systems are the most common form of an enterprise application and represent a
complex Information System solution. You need to identify WHY enterprise resource planning systems are so
complex. In identifying the complexity of enterprise resource planning systems you should discuss the
following:
a) What is the purpose and audience of different types of enterprise applications (ERP, SCM, CRM, KM)?
b) Drawing on a case study of a successful ERP implementation, identify the benefits obtained.
c) Drawing on a case study of an unsuccessful ERP implementation, identify the reasons for the failure
(do not discuss Queensland Health as the case study as this will be discussed in the tutorials).
HINT: Case studies of ERP implementations can be found by searching:
 Google Scholar
 QUT Library
 SAP Customer Success stories: http://go.sap.com/about/customer-testimonials/featured-customerstories.html
 Michael Krigsman ZDNET Beyond IT Failures: http://www.zdnet.com/blog/projectfailures/
