Project Introduction

The VSKYLABS Tecnam P2006T is one of the VSKYLABS Flagship projects for X-Plane flight simulator.

VSKYLABS initially developed the Tecnam P2006T during 2016/2017 for X-Plane 11 (v1.0 was released in May 2017). The VSKYLABS Tecnam P2006T was the 1st 3d party add-on aircraft which included the LR G1000.

The VSKYLABS P2006T Project was designed following the Tecnam 'MK-I' model which was commonly used at the time that VSKYLABS developed it for X-Plane (2016-2017). Tecnam introduced the production 'MK-II' models to the market in May 2017. The P2006T 'MK-II', which is not included in this product, includes several enhancements such as the G1000 Nxi (instead the G950), new seats design and improved lighting system.

The standard avionics configurations of the real-world P2006T includes an analog IFR version, a Garmin G950/G1000 IFR version, and a 'P2006T MkII' option which includes the Garmin G1000 Nxi package.

The analog cockpit version of the VSKYLABS Tecnam P2006T is equipped with a dual GNS configuration (Garmin 530 + 430), which makes it fully capable of advanced flight planning and navigation. When it comes to its instrumentation, it is a fully capable IFR aircraft, with dual NAV and COMM systems and displays.

In the real aircraft, the Garmin G1000 Nxi package configuration includes slightly modified side panels, having the CB panels shifted to the front panel, instead of the analog engine instrument gauges which are integrated into the display of the G1000 Nxi pack.

The VSKYLABS G1000 version features the latest X-Plane G1000 (which includes the integrated engine displays as in the G1000 Nxi), but in addition to the integrated engine parameters display in the G1000, it has also the analog engine instrument gauges as in the G950/G1000 non Nxi configuration.

The project features highly defined systems. Due to various X-Plane limitations, some systems are being simulated with simplified architecture.

Tecnam P2006T General Information

The Tecnam P2006T is an Italian high-winged, twin-engine all-metal light aircraft built by Costruzioni Aeronautiche Tecnam, which is based in Italy. The P2006T is the lightest twin-engine certified aircraft available, and is a four-seat aircraft with fully retractable landing gear and liquid-cooled Rotax 912 engines.

The P2006T first flew on 13 September 2007 and was certified by EASA on 5 June 2009. NASA's all electric X-57 Maxwell prototype aircraft is being developed using a P2006T as its basic structure.

    • Fix to Autopilot Master switch in the cockpit. The switch is now
capable of disconnecting the autopilot servos in parallel to the
      S-TEC panel operation.
    • Note: because X-Plane "awakes" with a certain default value for
the Autopilot system, it is impossible to operate this switch before

more FPS (although the model is performing very good in terms of FPS since
      day#1).
  • Cockpit environment:
    • GNS 530/430 interaction is now using mouse manipulators - to reduce the
mouse-click times - you can either click or use the mouse wheel up/down to
      change frequencies etc. (user request)

for more convenient readings (user request).
  • Checklists text files added:

    • You can use it on-screen pop-up window by loading a 'checklist' or 'text file'
straight from X-Plane's interface, during flight (in X-Plane 11 is done from the
'File"tab, while in X-Plane 10 it is done from the 'Special' tab).

      performance checkup.
    • Aircraft Takeoff, Climb, Cruise performance tune and checkup (in
comparison to the performance charts, figures may vary but within a
      reasonable margin).
    • Single engine performance tune and checkup - the aircraft's engines are now
performing accurately, bringing the single engine performance into the
target accuracy (in comparison to the performance charts, figures may vary
      but within a reasonable margin).
    • Aircraft ground performance tune and checkup - maximum braking can now
hold the aircraft firmly in the engine run-up tests.
  • Aircraft sounds:
    • Internal sounds tuneup (it is not yet under the FMOD feature, but it will
become available in the near future).
  • General aspects:
    • 2D HUD view is now showing only the HUD.

    • Electrical fuel pumps operation lights are now functioning.
    • Landing gear warning added: when you are flying below 78 knots, with flaps
in 'LANDING' position and with the gears 'UP', you will hear the aural
      warning.
  • Sounds:
    • Internal engine sounds improvements (it is not yet under the FMOD feature,
but it will become available in the near future).
    • Stall warning volume adjustments.
  • General aspects/features:
    • ICAO aircraft type designator fixed and is now: P06T.
    • Landing/Taxi lights realignment.
    • Propeller discs - Added volumetric side view propeller effect.
    • Added animated pilot/cabin doors. To open/close the door simply click on the
door area. Currently the doors are biased (click opens both doors) but it will
get to be separated in the future. Opening the doors is affecting the flight
model by adding drag in the doors positions. The doors will automatically get
closed once in the air, and when airborne, the doors may indicate that they
are "unlocked", although they will be seen physically closed (as the air is
supposedly pushing the doors and not letting them open wide).
    • Various textures fixes (as a preparation for a paint-kit file, which will be
      available soon).

v1.0 - v1.1 (17th May 2017) - Initial version release:

      regime).
    • Flaps drag coefficient tune-up to match the appropriate descent
      characteristics.
    • Landing and Taxi lights fix:
    • Lights illuminate runways as it should be.
    • Takeoff trim settings fix:
      • Preset for take-off trim was set properly so it would induce an unwanted
        pitch-up moments on takeoff.
  • Interactivity improvements:
    • 'Hide Yoke' feature added (for better front panel visualization). To
hide/unhide the Yoke, simply click on its base as shown in the screenshot
      below (the green zone).
    • GPS knobs operation from pilot seat improved.
