This document was developed to highlight the learning outcomes containing elements of reading from the current Alberta Knowledge and Employability English Language Arts 10-4, 20-4 and 30-4 Program of Studies. For full implementation, learning outcomes should be read in the context of the Introduction to their respective program of studies and its general outcomes. This document may support teachers as they help students transition from course to course. It can be used for:
side-by-side course comparisons
supporting the development of students’ reading skills
supporting conversations with parents/guardians
Most of the reading outcomes are the same for all three courses. The outcomes that are unique to a specific course are indicated in parentheses.
