Process Improvement: Lean Flow Systems - Poka Yoke

Poka-Yoke is Japanese for mistake-proofing. The term was developed by Japanese quality expert Shigeo Shingo. It is the idea of designing a process or product so that users cannot perform the action incorrectly. It literally means “to fail-safe" or "mistake-proofing". A poka-yoke is any mechanism in a lean manufacturing or fulfillment process that helps an operator avoid (yokeru) mistakes (poka). Its purpose is to eliminate product defects by preventing, correcting, or drawing attention to human errors as they occur.
