ZBZ-06 Traditional Yin style baguazhang series VI Baguazhang Basic Performance set - Zhu Baozhen MP4

The aim of traditional Baguazhang is fighting, as such, there are no performance sets. Each movement in each palm change contains many fighting applications and are generally trained only for that purpose. Training is done while walking the circle and the movements are performed in a continuous, flowing manner - leading to the name 'Bagua Continuous Palms'

Baguazhang performance routines that are widespread today are a development of the 1960s, created by using Baguazhang movements to compose performance routines that emphasise beautiful movements and fit the technical criteria used by wushu formms judges.

This advanced level performance set is composed mainly of Yin Style Baguazhang palm and kicking techniques, with a few movements from Cheng and other styles of Baguazhang that were selected for their aesthetic qualities, creating a form that has both hard and soft characteristics. This set is very beautiful when performed correctly, but its movements are quite complex and difficult. There are 68 movements in total; movement characteristics are: move in four directions and attack in eight, straight movements that contain a curve, circles within circles, straight movements within circles, and continuous, flowing change between them. These bring out the flavour that is unique in this martial art.
