Hamnataing - Chris Stout

This is one of many tunes written on the piano at my parent’s house in Sandwick, Shetland. The house looks over the island of Mousa and a spectacular, 2000 year old Broch, which sits near the south end of the island. Family friend, and great man of the sea, Don Farquhar actually suggested the name. In calling the tune ‘Hamnataing’ he unwittingly divulged one of his favourite fishing grounds!! Hamnataing forms part of the shoreline of Mousa and is one of many great fishing spots round the Isle.
*A broch is an Iron Age drystone hollow-walled structure found in Scotland.
