Him: I've loved her ever since the first time I met her but she left me. She ripped my heart out and left a big gaping hole in my chest. She's dead to me...yet, she's just appeared in front of me again.

Her:I don't remember anything I did in my past. I don't know who I was. I've lived the past 10 years with guidance. I want to remember but who's going to help me when no one is willing to help? I want to know.

Reinie Bridges’ name was a mere whisper on Lincoln's lips and and a craving that he had to satisfy.

***TAKE A PEEK INSIDE***

Chapter 1

“Papà, mi manchi (Dad, I miss you)!” the sweet little voice came through the phone.

Lincoln almost teared up at the sound of his son’s voice. A son that only a select few knew about. He was finally coming down from everything that had happened with his brother and the celebration of the new year.

He cleared his throat before he spoke, “Hello, son. How’s Sicily treating you?”

“Va Bene (It’s good).”

Lincoln laughed loudly. “Carlo, you need to get used to speaking English if you’re going to be living with me.”

GianCarlo sighed, “Fine, papa, but sono davvero tornare a casa (am I really coming back home)?”

Lincoln smiled widely. “Yes, buddy, you are. Now, mettere la Nonna al telefono (Put Grandma on the phone).”

Lincoln missed his son, GianCarlo. He hadn’t seen him since he went to visit last year. He had his reasons for keeping him out of the States for as long as he did. GianCarlo hadn’t been on American soil since his mother, Reinie, left them ten years ago. Lincoln searched everywhere for her, but there was nothing that could be done. He even asked his father before he took his life, but Luca refused to say it was him who had anything to do with it.

Lincoln shook his head, ridding all those memories away. He stored it back into that dark place he kept every single thing that hurt him. To many, Lincoln seemed like the nicer of the two Sorrentinos, but he wasn’t. He was the deadlier one. The one you never wanted to piss off. He never went looking for trouble, but once he was in it, he felt it was his duty to end it.

He knew that this was something he would have to get used to. Whenever he talked to GianCarlo, all he thought of was Reinie and it never took him to a good place. He tried to move on after she left him, not just for himself, but for GianCarlo’s sake, yet he was back to square one now. He accepted that maybe it was now just him and his son. He and Shelly realized that the best thing they did for each other was stay friends. He never really spoke of Reinie to Shelly or showed her what she looked like, yet he knew he would never forget what she looked like as she was implemented in his brain.

He was glad that he sent his son to stay with his maternal grandparents back in Sicily. He didn’t want GianCarlo growing up around his poisonous father. This had put a strain on his feelings about everything in his life and ultimately caused his feelings to shut down. He did try to love Shelly—he could even say in his own way he did—but it never felt enough. He felt like he was mimicking instead of it being natural.

After getting off the phone with his grandmother, he went to wash up. Lorenzo told him that Gemma and Shelly wanted to check out this new upscale club, Pulse, tonight. After his shower, he dried off and threw his towel in the hamper as he walked to his walk-in closet, fully naked. He wasn’t ashamed of a damn thing on his body. Not his ink-covered body or Jacob’s ladder piercing he had. He hurried up his process when he looked at the time. He didn’t want to overdo it, so he sported dark jeans with a dark long sleeve shirt and a leather jacket. He wore his dark boots to complement his clothes.

When he reached the club, Lorenzo and the girls were already inside. He nodded at the bouncer and walked in. The music was louder inside and booming. He didn’t mind unwinding; he definitely needed it. He was escorted by a pretty female to where Lorenzo was. When he got there, he smiled.

“Finally, Linc!” Shelly yelled and hugged him.

“What? I’m not that late.” He chuckled. He knew she had already had some to drink.

“I know, but Gemma and I didn’t want to leave Enzo sitting by himself while we danced, but now that you’re here! Gems, let’s go!”

“Hi, Linc!” Gemma said in passing.

He chuckled as he took a seat next to his brother in their private booth.

“You look…,” Lorenzo started to say.

“Tired, I know. Carlo’s coming in a week.”

“That’s exciting! You haven’t seen him in a year. Why aren’t you happy?”

“I am. I’m just worried I’m going to turn out like the old man,” Lincoln said as he flagged down the server. He ordered his scotch on the rocks.

“Nah, you won’t turn out like that. That man was poisonous to himself. You did the right thing with Carlo. We both know you did.”

“Yeah,” Lincoln replied absentmindedly. He took his drink as the server put it down and ordered another.

After an hour at the club, Lincoln was now relaxed and in his element. He was having a good time with his brother and friends. Some of their men joined them and they were laughing, then he looked up as Gemma and Shelly came back with a new friend in tow. They were all drunk and giggly, but everything for Lincoln froze the moment he looked into those big brown eyes that he’d once die for.

No one noticed the deadly look Lincoln was sporting. For someone as big as Lincoln, he was fast. It took him two steps to reach up to the girl and as she craned her neck to look into his icy blue eyes, she smiled at him and his rage snapped. He reached for her throat with his hand and had her dangling in the air in less than a second. Everything seemed to freeze for everyone as they watched Lincoln, who was the calm and collected one, lose his cool.

“Please…please put me down,” the woman strained against the tightening of his hands on her throat.

“You don’t have the right to beg me for anything, Reinie,” he said through clenched teeth.

Chapter 2

Reinie didn’t understand what was going on. She didn’t get why this man was choking her to death right now. What had she done to him? She wanted to ask him, but at the way he had her raised up in the air with one hand around her neck, she knew it was impossible. She slapped on his arms to let her go, but he didn’t budge. Nothing was working. She thought she was scared the minute he grabbed her neck, but now, she was terrified as he brought her closer to his face.

“Do you think you deserve to live?” he asked her. His cold eyes stared into hers.

She racked her brain and came up with nothing. What had she done to this man that he wanted her dead?

“Put her down, Linc.” Reinie shifted her eyes and saw the guy who spoke up in her favor. He looked just like her soon-to-be killer. She pleaded with her eyes for this man to let her go before she saw darkness.

“Nah, bro. Just tell me why. Why shouldn’t I put a bullet in her head right now?” Lincoln said as he pulled out his gun and pressed it to Reinie’s skull.

Reinie whimpered. She stopped fidgeting and just remained there, staring into his eyes.

Then the twin, Lorenzo, spoke, “She’s not worth it, bro. We’ll figure it out, but not here. People are watching and I don’t need those two useless detectives on our case. Grab her and let’s go. We’ll do this discreetly.”

Lincoln nodded and lowered his gun, putting it back in his holster. He didn’t avert his eyes from Reinie as he spoke, “You try to run, and I’ll put a bullet in your head, once and for all.”
